Finished Neverwhere

The ending was kind of expected, but a few of the events leading to the last chapter were such a plot twist.
It's revealed that Islington, the angel Door was looking for, was Mr. Croup and Mr. Vandemar's employer. Islington wanted Door to look for a key that opened the door that imprisoned him, and for her to open the door. In the end, she opened the door using a fake key to transport Islington to a world far away from what he wanted. Croup and Vandemar both fell, too.
Door, Richard, and the marquis passed out after that. ( Between this, how they got here is hazy. ) They soon awoken to the Black Friars, and were given the full explaination as to why they didn't want anyone to take the key. After resting for a while, Richard is allowed to go to London Above, using the powers of the real Key. He pretty much just lives normally, working and such, until he starts wandering around London three weeks in. He draws a door on a wall, which is soon opened by Door. The marquis appears and Richard, supposedly, returns to London Below.

Emotional Attachment

I really don't feel anything towards the characters. The only one I can really see myself in is Richard. His mind is more centered on logic, so he's completely lost in LB. Without Door and the marquis, he would be dead in minutes. His mind is thinking too much like how things are in LA.

Feelings

The entire book as a whole has a really dark mood. I'm sure this intended.
In my opinion, nothing really makes sense until halfway through the book.
It may help, while you're reading, to lose your logic and just accept things as they are. Otherwise, you'll just be saying, "What." all the time.

Where Is This Again?

The setting is modern London.
Personally, I think the setting is great because London is a relatively large and mysterious city. I know of a lot of stories that take place in London, and they are fantastic.
However, this story takes place in two Londons. London Above is our normal world. This is where Richard originally was, and where he found Door.
And then there's London Below, and alternate reality where, if someone from LA enters, they are erased entirely from it. Anyone from LB is hardly seen in LA. It takes a lot of focus or the LBer conversing with the LAer.
The way you enter LB is through a few special manholes.

If I Were Richard....

I would have called an ambulance first thing. Personally, I think that a hospital could take care of her better than I could.
Also, I would be a little bit more secretive when carrying a bloody, young girl. It must be really awkward to be seen like that.
I would have  taken off my good shirt to cover her wounds until the ambulance arrived.

Stylish

The artist's style is kind of... mysterious.
He ends each chapter with a surprise. Somewhat expected, though.
Each paragraph is told from a different point of view. Many times, though, these views aren't all towards the same point. There needs to be more of a space between when pargraphs end.
Sometimes, the author spends a bit too much time on detail, but it's tolerable.

Btw, I recently found out that a friend is seeing the Neverwhere play this weekend.

South Park

Okay, I decided to make this where Richard entered London Below ( They didn't have a sewer setting, so this would have to do. )

He's kind of a bland character as a whole. All he has is personality.
