About Me

Well, uh, I consider myself a nice person! I really only get angry if someone annoys me or their presence is just annoying.

Neverwhere

This book is actually pretty good, but kind of confusing until halfway through the book.
It starts out by explaining the main character, Richard Mayhew. When going out to dinner with his fiancee's boss, they pass a girl bleeding in an alleyway. Being a nice person, Richard takes her to his apartment to try to nurse her. She tells him not to call the ambulance because two men are chasing after her. After that, she takes him out onto the streets to find a marquis. They travel through a manhole to London Under ( unknowingly for Richard.)
Richard travels to his apartment, where the marquis and the girl ( Door ) depart. Two men named Vandemar and Croup come to Richard's apartment, asking for Door. Soon, people come into his apartment, but don't seem to notice him!  He goes outside to try to find his fiancee, but she doesn't notice him either. He walks aimlessly in the streets, and winds up being dragged into a building of homeless people after asking about the Floating Market that Door mentioned. At this time, Door and the marquise were coming up with a plan to get a bodyguard for her. Along with that, Vandemar and Croup are hiring a weapons master to try to become Door's 'bodyguard' so they could kill her. Richard is taken by a rat girl named Anaesthesia.  She takes him to the Night's Road, which leads to the Floating Market. Before they enter, a strange, attractive woman joins them. The Road is really difficult for Richard to pass because he isn't accustomed to the darkness, but the woman protects him. Anaesthesia, however, is lost to the darkness. The two reach the Floating Market.

I've read a bit past this point, but I still need to sort it out.
